Minshew's PTA Needs YOU!

Minshew Parents: Please consider serving on our PTA board.  The positions below are still open. All positions listed are required to do two training's (this only needs to happen once - not every year), as well as to try and attend our PTA Executive Board Meeting each month.


5th VP Spring Fundraising (Carnival): 

Duties -- 

1. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all Spring Fundraising activities of the association as guided by the approved budget requirements and the recommendations of the executive board (ex. Spring Carnival).

2. Serve on the Budget Committee.

3. Oversee Box Tops Non-Board Chair and program.

4. Oversee the Summer Expo Program (can be incorporated in with Spring Fundraising event).

5. All fundraising efforts must address the McKinney Independent School District’s policies regarding fundraising.

6. All fundraising efforts must be coordinated with the Treasurer and Executive Board to plan sufficient fundraising events to address anticipated expenditures.


6th VP/Membership: 

Duties -- 

1. Promote an active and continuing membership of the association by conducting membership drives in the fall and spring.

2. Distribute membership cards to each member.

3. Assure the membership dues are sent to the state office by the October 15th reporting date. Shall work with the Treasurer to ensure that membership dues are mailed to the state within one week of receipt.

4. Oversee membership sign-in at all general meetings in order to establish a quorum. Provide ballots when a ballot vote is required.

5. Shall provide the Secretary with an updated membership list one week prior to general meetings.

6. Maintain an updated membership list and distribute it to the appropriate local, council, and state officers.

7. Publicize the vision, mission, priorities and benefits of membership in PTA.

8. Confirm with the Secretary that the Local Officer Information Form has been submitted to Texas PTA.

9. Recognize outstanding members and PTA supporters locally or with Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership

10. Win Texas PTA Awards. 


7th VP/Volunteers: 

Duties -- 

1. Visit with your PTA President to plan ahead for the needs of the school and determine priorities for volunteer recruitment.

2. Responsible for coordinating and supporting all volunteer programs.

3. Recruit and organize volunteers throughout the year for all events, as requested by staff and board members, (includes, but not limited to: Room Parents, Field Day, Hearing and Eye Screenings, Sunshine Luncheon, Art, Music, Book Fair, Office, etc.).

4. Become knowledgeable about the volunteer guidelines set by the school district.

5. Hold a volunteer orientation meeting.

6. Coordinate an end of year Volunteer Appreciation activity.

7. Provide Volunteer of the Month and Year gifts.

8. Work with the President and 1st VP Aide to the President to determine Board Member of the Month and provide necessary gifts.

9. Maintain a master list of volunteers.


Hospitality:

Duties -- 

1. Organize Tissues and Treats in the library for the first day of school. Provide tissues, refreshments and invite board members to meet and greet.

2. Organize refreshments for functions as requested (including, but not limited to, Read Across America, Muffins with Mom, teacher preview of Book Fair, ice cream for Math Night).

3. Oversee Gift Wrapping for teachers in Dec. Non-Board Coordinator (see Non-Board Coordinators).
